Families NSW is the NSW Government’s overarching strategy to enhance the health and wellbeing of children up to 8 years and their families.

Families NSW is the joint responsibility of three government agencies, working together to make a positive difference for children and families. These agencies are:

The FNSW Learning & Development Project is funded by the Department of Family and Community Services . Its aim is to enhance  the capacity of workers, services and networks to support families in children’s early years (0‐8).

The project structure consists of two Learning & Development Projects, FNSW Nepean L&D Project covering the Penrith, Hawkesbury, Blue Mountains and Lithgow regions and FNSW CBBH L&D Project covering Cumberland, Blacktown, and Baulkham Hills regions.

Training is provided to enhance FNSW workers skills to:

  • help parents to build their skills and confidence in parenting
  • support parents and carers so they can respond to problems early
  • build communities that support children and families
  • improve the way agencies work together to make sure families get the services they need.
