Family Worker Training + Development Programme Inc. was formed and funded in 1984 to train Family Workers to enable them to work with families. There was little formal training available for workers in Western Sydney at that time.
Through consultation with Co-ordinators of Family Support Services in Blacktown and Parramatta areas a variety of workshops were organised and this practice has not only continued but we now offer a much wider range of Learning and Development opportunities for all workers working with families and their children in 8 Local Government Areas across Western Sydney.
2004 saw huge growth in the organisation as the NSW government rolled out its Families First funding (now Families NSW). FWT+DP were successful in securing funding to deliver training across Metro West for workers working with families and children aged 0-8yrs. We have continued to receive funding to deliver a variety of learning and development initiatives.
Family Worker Training + Development Programme Inc. is managed by a Board of Management.
The Board of Management is formed from within the membership. Members are workers from services who are working with families and their dependent children.
The Executive Officer of FWT+DP reports to the Board at quarterly meetings. Currently there are 8 members, although the Board constitution allows for nine.
In 2009, FWT+DP celebrated our 25 year anniversary. Click here to view our 25th Anniversary Booklet
